R2 Marine is a design and naval architecture company specialized in commercial and pleasure craft design. We are a team of naval architects, engineers, and designers who solve problems using creativity as a tool. Internship Description
As an Industrial Design Intern, you will support our design team in shaping the aesthetics and functionality of commercial and pleasure boats. You will work closely with experienced industrial designers, naval architects and engineers and gain exposure to real design projects from concept development through to production‑ready solutions.
Internship tasks and responsibilities
Assist in developing creative and functional design concepts for vessels
Support design work that aligns with production methods and material constraints
Collaborate with engineers and naval architects to integrate design and technical requirements
Prepare drawings, renderings, and visual materials for internal reviews and manufacturing support
Participate in concept development, feasibility studies, and early‑stage prototyping
Contribute ideas to solve design challenges in a practical and innovative way
Responsibilities will be adapted based on your study and experience level.
Internship requirements
Currently studying second year or higher in Industrial Design
Interest in maritime design or transportation design
Strong attention to detail and interest in high‑quality design
Basic understanding of production methods and manufacturing constraints
Familiarity with design software such as SolidWorks, Rhino, or similar tools
Fluent in English (spoken and written); Finnish is considered a plus
Willingness to learn, curiosity, and a proactive mindset
