Description
We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to strengthen our engineering team. In this role, you will take a leading technical position within projects, with responsibility for the mechanical design scope from concept development through detailed engineering and production support.
You are comfortable taking ownership, leading technical work, and guiding others, while remaining hands-on in design. You enjoy working across disciplines, contributing to technical decision-making, and ensuring that mechanical solutions are robust, efficient, and well integrated within the overall vessel design.
This is a full-time, permanent position and will be filled as soon as a suitable person is found.
Responsibilities
Take ownership of the mechanical engineering scope within projects
Lead and coordinate mechanical design activities from concept to production
Design and develop mechanical systems and components in compliance with applicable standards and regulations
Create, review, and optimise 3D models and technical documentation using SolidWorks or similar CAD software
Collaborate closely with naval architects, engineers, and designers to ensure system integration
Participate in concept development, feasibility studies, and detailed engineering phases
Support shipyards and production teams with technical expertise and problem-solving
Act as a technical interface towards clients and project stakeholders
Guide and support junior engineers and contribute to internal knowledge sharing
Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent professional experience
Proven experience in mechanical engineering, preferably within the maritime industry, small craft, or commercial vessels
Proven experience in taking responsibility for complex technical scopes within projects
Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and production processes
Experience with sheet metal engineering
Strong CAD skills (SolidWorks or similar parametric 3D software)
Ability to work independently and take responsibility for technical outcomes
Fluent in English (spoken and written); Finnish language skills are considered a plus
Strong self-management skills and a proactive, solution-oriented way of working
Willingness and motivation to mentor others and contribute to team development
